This is a specialized competency based program appropriately designed to produce professionals to intervene in substance, process and behavioural addictions. The program equips learners with appropriate knowledge, skills and values for them to practice in the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and aftercare services to addicted clients.
Grounded on ethical, theoretical and practical explorations, this course prepares addiction professionals to deal with individuals, families and community. These professionals are equipped to play a vital role in the intervention of alcohol, drugs and other addictions menace. This will be achieved through policy development, health education and promotion, prevention and treatment of substances and other addictions. Other interventions include; early detection, assessment, referral/linkage, mobilization of community development and research.
Upon completion of this program the learner should be able to apply appropriate competencies in prevention, education, research, treatment, rehabilitation and aftercare of substance related and other addictive disorders
